Thistle Down

Declaration of Independence

Upon the magic dial of time,
The years have passed away.
One by one we add them up,
Until we have today.

Each moment flies on feathered wings,
Where endless strides are cast.
Where remembrance of life's cherished gifts,
Come soaring from the past.

Men dream and pray,
They work to achieve a goal.
And with the help of a power supreme,
There's a fulness to the soul.

It gives them hope and lavishes,
Freedom on a choice land.
And for the constitution,
It was divinely planned.

A free and better way to live,
With eyes to see the need.
Framed by the laws that God inspired,
In strength...a lasting creed.

So surely, surely, did men move,
Upon that wondrous hour.
To fashion those precious documents,
By an ever guiding power.

For a mighty force did roll us on,
With justice gained...by laws.
They sought a life men dream about,
In a good and noble cause.

All honor to those men aspired,
Who wrote, and planned it well.
So much...that generations, hence,
In gratitude will tell.
