Calf revived

Not a very good photograph as we did not want to cause unnecessary disturbance but here is the little calf revived! The group of animals were all lying down when we arrived and the mother rose to her feet at once followed by the calf who stretched (a good sign) and went straight to her udder to suck. The animal on the left is a young Hereford bull (not the calf's sire!) and there are four other heifers, one in the picture on the right.

My leg is enormously improved after yesterday's treatment which is a relief! More showers and very dark heavy clouds. We drove around the grass fields inspecting the new growth which will take time but everything looks much fresher and less dry.

Two Greater Spotted Woodpeckers in the garden and one rat on the old bird table! We shall have to watch that and probably deal with it. A farmer friend nearly died by catching Weil's disease and it wasn't obvious how he became infected.
