The Chattri

Trudged eight miles over the Downs through pouring rain to attend the Chattri memorial service. Erected in 1921, the Chattri stands in memory of all Indian soldiers who died in the First World War. Its is particularly associated with the 53 Hindu and Sikh soldiers who died in Brighton's military hospitals and whose remains were cremated here on Patcham Down.

I took lots of photographs but since Chattri can, I believe, be translated as 'umbrella' I thought this one would be appropriate.
