Male Bullfinch. Such beautiful birds - I appreciate that fruit tree growers will beg to differ, as Bullfinches are somewhat notorious for their taste for apple, pear, and plum blossom. They are fairly shy, and have a gentle call. Very distinctive white rump seen as they fly off with a "bouncing" flight. Nearly always in pairs. The female is similar to the male except for a pale pink breast.

Tired this evening, and was at a bit of loss as to what to blip. Took the long way home, but just wasn't in the right frame of mind. Found this poor fella sitting quietly on the path outside the house. I presume he was somewhat dazed after a head on collision with the kitchen window. Of course I'd just taken off the macro lens a day or so ago, so have cropped this by a fair bit... despite the front of the lens being about nine inches from him.

Siskins are the most common window strikers about here. This was the first time I've come across a Bullfinch doing this. One reason (excuse?) for not washing the windows...

(Edit) I omitted to mention he flew off about five minutes later, when I came a bit too close for his comfort. So seems to have recovered okay. The rest of his family party were waiting for him too.
