Rest

A bit of Bradford street photography - Time for a rest.

Cheery as ever lol I've been thinking about death after reading & hearing about the BBC documentary regarding assisted suicide which featured Terry Pratchett (not watched it yet).

I do understand the need for safeguards in assisted suicide to prevent the likes of Shipman but we really need to examine this issue in the UK (there comes a point where prolonging life is counter productive) and rid ourselves of the religious hangover which sanctifies life even when this concept leads to torture or destroys lives.

Life is a beautiful gift but one which we need to be practical about rather than sanctify.

The poison of the 'life is sacrosanct' view is easily seen in the distorted thinking of those who oppose abortion by murdering abortion doctors & blowing up surgeries. A twisted logic that ruins lives.

I feel the same about making the choice to end ones own life. I'm sure if there is a God he would want us to take responsibility for our own destiny and show compassion for one another rather than condemning each other to suffering.

Thousands of people die excruciatingly painful tortuous deaths & despite begging for mercy many doctors can do nothing to ease these people towards a tranquil dignified death because of the current law.

...and yet it still happens, just privately where patient, family & doctor collude to end their misery.

We need to grow up.
