Good Riddance ...

The pod truck woke us at 7:15 this morning.

This is the end of a saga (not entirely pleasant) that began last September when we moved from our upper-floor condominium in the building in the back of this shot to a small temporary apartment nearby in Northampton. Most of our belongings spent the next 8½ months in the white pod (container) which is being removed here.

The unpleasantness began on May 1st, when we moved things from the pod to our new rental house, and discovered that moisture from condensation, mildew and even mice were present in the pod. We lost some furniture, and around 150 books--some from my parents and their families--that was the most painful, but it could have been worse. The vast majority of the books survived (some seen here :)

The building in progress in the rear (here's a view last month) mostly replaces the previous condominium. The rear part of that building (nearest us) was not torn down, but its siding and roof have now been removed, making way for new siding and roofing to match the rest. The owners have been living in the carriage house on the left in last month's blip, with many possessions stored in the red pod.

For the really curious, I've tagged the blips related to this entire house building process with "Noho construction" (there are about 20 of them). (Unfortunately, tagged images don't come up in any logical order.) CORRECTION: I queried blip central--you have to add tagged as a keyword in the search, as in tagged "noho construction"--then they come up in sequence, the latest first.
