Strutting his stuff

Castle Toward, near Dunoon, is a residential outdoors centre - though when I was young the Glasgow Schools' First Orchestra held its residential courses there. Recently, they acquired some peacocks. It's interesting to realise that from the woods around the castle, the noise of a peacock is very similar to that of a child being encouraged to climb a tree and use the rope slide to descend.

We had definitely marked this one down as a wailing infant, but here he was, posing for us in a patch of sun. Too much to ask that he put his tail up, obviously.
