Hello & Goodbye

This is my first blip and what could be better than to start with a historic picture of Rosyth Dockyard.

This picture shows almost all of the Yard with the new Goliath crane prominant in the compositon with aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious framed inside it.

This marks a historic event for Rosyth as this will be the last evening a CVS class carrier will sit alongside the south arm before leaving for sea trials and travel to Portsmouth before joining the fleet again following another sterling refit from the Rosyth guys.

It will be the last of it's class to be refitted in the UK let alone Rosyth as it will make way for the new QEC Class Carriers being assembled at Rosyth.

The Goliath, manufactured and built bt ZPMC (China) shows the new era of Babcocks Rosyth's yard begining. It will lift into place the blocks to construct the biggest ship built in the UK.
