Fruiting bodies

This is a moss. They are having sex... sort of. More that they're releasing spores that will later turn into gametophyes (what you usually see) that will make gametes which fuse.

We looked at lichens outside today. In the misty rain. Streams were jumped, branches dodged, and lichens scraped off trees with butter knives.
