Concealed backyard

Rotterdam has a number of avenues with grand buildings. Those buildings have backyards normally closed to the public. But some times in a year those backyards can be visited and you can walk from one backyard into another. And in one of those backyards is always opportunity for a coffee or tea and a piece of homemade cake to eat. We enjoyed coffee and a warm apple pie point. And I have to admit: with whipped cream ... :))

Pity it rained from time to time and during the walk the sky was grey with heavy clouds. So there were not many visitors. Although I felt tempted to show the frontside of such a stately home, I chose for a view of the architecture from one of the backyards. A greater contrast than between the front and back of these buildings is hard to imagine ... but, very picturesque, don't you think? ... ;)
