Pipes at the carnival

As we approached the carnival field in the nearby town, I could hear the pipes and drums. Never fails to stir something in me - not surprising as my father was a Scot, born in a town just 18 miles from Edinburgh. Seeing the Tattoo at the Castle in the Sixties is still one of the abiding memories of my life. You have to be there, sitting high up on the Esplanade, to really 'feel' it.
Lots going on at the carnival but not a lot for us - we were looking for plant stall bargains ... but there were no plant stalls this year.

For the record: 18C max, big black clouds rolling around but little rain so the carnival survived!
