Warsaw Old Town

So, up at very silly early o' clock to catch a flight to Warsaw. We went for a long weekend to see our friend, Steve, who is working over there at the moment.

After dropping bags at Steve's, we headed straight for the Old Town. But here's the amazing thing - Warsaw's old town is not old at all. No, it's all post war. It was so badly damaged in World War II that there was virtually nothing left standing. Old pictures and photos were used and the Old Town (originally 13th and 14th century) and the New Town (15th century - so a mere baby of a town) were reconstructed in their original format. Every usable piece of rubble was used in the reconstruction, almost like a giant jigsaw.

How clever is that! This picture is in the old town. It doesn't look new at all! Confused yet?
