Victoria Park Band Rotunda

I've had my eye on this Band Rotunda for a little while but never managed to capture it with a sparkle, I was delighted to find it all lit up in the early hours of this morning.

A Band Rotunda is a place for performance, picnics and carols by candelight. Where people spread out with blankets, picnic rugs and baskets filled with divine food and nibbles or perhaps sandwiches and bacon and egg pie. Where children run round and play, or dance and sing.

A place which brings a smile to everyone, a place to enjoy and come together as a community, young and old and inbetweens.

This Band Rotunda was opened on 24 January 1907 and has an Historical Places Trust Category 11 rating.

Well, what a night we Cantabrians had - it was a real shake, rattle and roll and no not in the entertainment form! Another earthquake at 10.35pm followed by several aftershocks - oh boy!! Its time mother nature settled down but I'm not too sure shes going to for a while yet, our family will sit it out - no plans to move elsewhere, hubby has a secure job - as far as we know, Daughters are happy doing what they're doing, I'm happy and Mum's just round the corner happy doing whats shes doing - we will wait and try to be patient!!

Hoping for some sleep tonight and a quiet night :)
