Journey Through Time

By Sue

Happy Birthday!

In a time long, long ago, when the country was in the midst of fighting a grueling 4 year world war, a couple, fearing that the father would have to be called to active duty, came from a far northern territory (North Dakota) to the City of Roses (Portland) to work in the shipyards, where they were making war ships for the country. There he served his civic duty and never had to handle anything deadlier than a paint gun. During this time they added to their small family, and on the second day of summer, in 1944, little Billy was born. Not William, as befits a prince, but Billy, with the touch of the common man.

But common man or not, he is my prince. And I'm glad I found him.

Happy Birthday, Bill!

PS Not to worry, this cupcake is to tide him over until he gets a proper birthday treat this weekend. Wednesday birthdays kind of get shoved over to Saturday....
