Balance

One of the negative side effects of bad weather is that it is uncomfortable. Sometimes it continues for days in a row. Rolling and pitching of small vessels can be so severe, that it is makes doing your job sometimes a hazardous operation. But it is not only about the uncomfortable aspects. Working 12 hours a day under the circumstances you see on this picture, is very tiring. Not only tiring, but balancing constantly like our Chief Mate Stefaan is doing here, while on duty on the bridge, will finally bring knee problems. Especially older crewmembers of tugs and fishing vessels, have often problems with their knees. But lucky enough the weather is improving a little bit again.
