Grasping the nettle

The spaniel has had an operation so he and I are confined to the house and garden for a week or so. I've left lots of common or stinging nettle (Urtica dioica) standing this year. They seem to have been used by the larvae of moths rather than butterflies. I have also been surprised by the different forms it takes - in some cases the stems and veins are quite red in colour.
