Sensational butterflies

Over the last four years in the summer a large tent has appeared outside the Natural History Museum. Inside there are tropical plants, climate which feels like the jungle and hundred of butterflies and moths.

Today the climate outside the tent is pretty similar and I come inside to escape the thunder, lightning and torrential rain.

The difference between them? Butterflies live in the day and moths are nocturnal (which is why they are less colourful). The life cycle is intrinsically the same however. Caterpillars are eating machines, which then create cocoons to sleep in for a while emerging after a while briefly in order to get it on with each other. After producing the next generation, they die.
