Bug-Eyed

Only a bug in the broadest sense. This is a Six-spot Burnet moth, (Zygaena filipendulae) on a red clover (Trifolium pratense).

This was the first warm sunny day in ages, so after cutting the grass, and after lunch, I set out on a hunt for butterflies. I was hoping for some common blues and although I saw 2 females and 1 male, they were distinctly uncooperative. Instead, I turned my attention to some 6-spot burnet moths that stayed on the flowerhead while I took a selection of views.
