Late June Afternoon

Colours strengthen,
Shadows lengthen.

Fingers tingle
Sifting shingle.

Water shimmers,
Shivers swimmers.

Kites fly ...
And so must I.

poem © Celia Warren 2011

A man flying a kite appeared after I'd taken this photo, so he earned his right to be in the poem! But you can see the lovely long shadows of the trees. And if you look to the right of that group of trees, the white mark against the grass is actually a gull flying directly towards my camera! This is Blackpool Sands, Devon, where my daughter and I went as soon as she got home from work. Deliciously blue sky and sea. The only people swimming had wetsuits on. We paddled!
