Hiding in Plain Sight

My daughter came bounding down the stairs this morning and said, "Hey! Mom! How do you like my outfit?" I replied, "Oh, I like it!" (And I genuinely did.) "It's so colorful and summery." I said.

Later, I asked her, "So why did you pick this top to go with this skirt? Because flowers match flowers?" I expect an affirmative, based on a similar conversation we had nearly three years ago. However, the logic of a 6-year-old, as I should have known, is not the same as that of a 3-year-old.

"No, because they're both cute," she replied. "Besides. It's good camouflage," she added in all seriousness.

"Camouflage?" I asked.

"Yes. I'd be camouflaged if I stood in a field of flowers."

Indeed.
