Innumerate?

Silos for flour by the former Scotbake plant in Inverness.

The plant was mothballed 15 years ago when a crazy price war broke out between the bigger supermarkets. They (the supermarkets) were selling items in their "value" ranges like loaves of plain bread, and baked beans for one or two pence each. I remember some folk going about with trolleys full of those two items. Felt sorry for the kids - baked beans on toast... again... for months.

The loss leading battle hurt numerous companies on the periphery - such as Scotbake. There was talk back in March of the place re-opening. But no sign yet. The only activity I've seen (and heard) there over the years, has periodically been a gent doing some bagpipe practice in one of the offices!
