Jousting

What a fantastic day out in the glorious sunshine at the jousting event at Linlithgow Palace.

The sun shone, the picnic got devoured and The Bros were enthralled by the knights on horseback, the fighting, the court jester, the weaponry, the colourful spectacle of it all.

It is all well staged good family fun but one of the Knights of Royal England came a cropper during one of the battles and ended up putting his shoulder out! I know!! Ooops!!
Anyway in the second part he was replaced by one of the Historic Scotland staff who The Bros have seen giving talks and doing weaponry events at Edinburgh and Bothwell Castles and they recognized him straight away. This guy was already cool in their eyes and today that got elevated more than a bit further when he joined the ranks of the knights. He's the one in the red and yellow, he looked pretty nervous to start but was totally up for it after the first canter. Well done him!!

Another great day with the Historic Scotland membership getting put to good use.

Now for some Pimms, well it is really warm & sunny so it would just be wrong not to ;-)
