Framing the Fort

Sunset (redux)

I had to post this.

The eagle-eyed viewer (which I'm certain includes you) will note a remarkable similarity between yesterday's blip & this one.

They are indeed the same sunset. The first one was taken around half past ten, eleven o'clock. This one was taken when I left at half past two in the morning

I've reduced the noise in the photograph, but I've done nothing to things like the exposure & colour saturation. And although it's pre-processed (if you like) by using the Melodie lens of the Hipstamatic app, this lens fades dark to black, it doesn't increase the light. This is just how the sky looked.

It's a lovely (& largely unknown) facet of midsummer in the Scottish Highlands. At this time of year, if (and it's a big if) the sky is clear, it barely gets dark. Things are bathed in this beautiful half-light, long after the much vaunted "gloaming" has gone to bed.

It's almost worth letting the midges feast on you while you experience it. ;-)
