Poet's tranquil resting place

This is the graveyard at St Botolph's Church, Helpston, where the Northamptonshire peasant poet John Clare is buried. He was the son of a farm labourer and wrote movingly about the English countryside. He lived from 1793 to 1864. My old school friend C came up from her home in Hertfordshire and we had a lovely day - watching the Ladies final at Wimbledon, enjoying some tasty meals and chatting most of the time. We've known each other for more than 50 years and this visit to Helpston was a trip down Memory Lane for both of us. The lavender made a lovely approach to Clare's gravestone.

For the record: 20C, sunny periods.
