Those scots are a little odd...

So, today we went for a long walk from the site in Applecross, heading south towards a village that we had been advised to go and have a look at - it was abandoned in the clearances during the 19th century.

We saw so many things on the walk - at one point we stopped to have a drink and a Tunnocks (apparently they're mandatory in Scotland - did you know over 5,000,000 are made and sold each week?*) and realised that we weren't just overlooking a quiet bay, but we were staring at about 28 seals basking upon the rocks.

And then, there was an old fishing boat on stilts that looked photogenic against the green grass of the headland. And then there was the stunning views over the loch towards Skye and the Cuillins.

But the strangest thing was this rock that we happened across. We have absolutely no idea what it's about, but the holes have been purpose-drilled and are the right size for a 2p piece. The end hole didn't have a coin in it, so we thought it only right to make a donation (ours is the shiniest one, of course).

Any ideas, folks?
