George IV Bridge

Waiting at the temporary bus stop opposite Augustine United, and just before this afternoon's cloud-burst, I caught the interesting mix of roofs, spires and domes running from there up to Teviot.

Augustine United 1861 - home to the Fairtrade Foundation, Jubilee Scotland, Edinburgh Churches Together, NHS Mental Health.... and a number of congregations.
A former Bank of Scotland on the corner of Chambers St
The tower at the National Museum of Scotland
Bedlam Theatre, Edinburgh University Student Theatre, housed in the old New North Free Church
McEwan Hall 1897 (donated by the brewer and Central Edinburgh MP, designed by Rowand Anderson, interiors by William Palin who also worked on London's Science Museum), Edinburgh University Graduation Hall, donated by the brewing company (the other brewer gave the city the grander Usher Hall 1896. £100k).

And all free to view from the pavement near the Central Library (foundation stone laid 9th July 1887 by Andrew Carnegie, designed in the French Renaissance style by George Washington Browne).
