Fresh Snow

Yesterday's storm brought a good fall of snow to the mountains, but not to low levels. It was the most snow we have had all winter. For most of the morning there was a little banner of snow blowing off the ridge behind the Rubicon Peak. The wind was bitterly cold. It stung my face, but I was dressed for it. I came home and made thick leek and potato soup with lots of black pepper.

Edit: The dark line across the middle of the picture is a series of shelter belts, huge pine hedges to protect farmland from the frequent gales we have here. Foreshortening due to the telescopic lens makes them appear close together, but they are spread out over several kilometres.
