Rites of Passage; broken soldiers

Whilst my eldest boy is returning from an outdoor summer rock festival, his 12 year old brother has decided to have a clear-out of his toys, because he's getting more mature (his words).

So out go all the zoo animals, cereal box toys, and finger footie boots, all carefully sorted & bagged up for nephews or charity shops. In amongst the plastic tat I found nostalgic pieces of my youth too, including these battle-scarred WW2 German foot-soldiers, who now finally head for the big shoebox in the sky...
