Poor Mom...

I could do an entire series on this part of town, just east of downtown. Slowly but surely the neighborhood is being reclaimed and renovated. This dilapidated, old restaurant is one of a few buildings that remains to be reclaimed in the Wealthy Street Business District.

The entrepreneurial business owners in the neighborhood over this past decade have taken a chance on the area and were hampered last winter by a group of self-described anarchists, previously mentioned here, who object to what they see as urban gentrification. Bricks through windows and graffiti on buildings have been their protests of choice.

What I see are local people investing their money and time in a neighborhood in which they believe. Buildings are not torn down, but renovated. Business owners are not wealthy out-of-towners but people who live here, sometimes above their businesses.

I think I am writing too much, and this is probably more suited to a blog posting - coming soon :)
