Preheating at EC20 in HDR

Today I had to attend to a meeting; after that I took this picture.

Unit EC 20: in preservation.
This is the so-called 9 meterfloor with a view at the feedwaterpre-heaters which heat up the water going to the boiler. The heating is done by steam, coming from bleedings of the main steamturbine.
The heaters are named after the number of the bleeding; 7b, 6b, 6a, 7a.
In the back are the condensate preheaters, working the same way.

This is done to minimize the losses in the condenser, thus increasing the efficiency of the unit.
Apparently that is not enough nowadays; the unit is too expensive and is now in preservation.
For the pre-heaters that means that they are preserved by compressed (dry) air.

The large square duct is for ventilation of the machinehall.
