Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

"Slugo Gigantis"

It finally really rained! good timing.:-( 3 members of the rowing club we used to belong to for many years came today for "rowing camp." We have all kinds of different small boats to row and once a year since 1993 we have had "Rowing Camp". Our coach, a great mentor for me who loved coming here,, died almost 3 years ago at age 85- he was in the boat just weeks before the end - and the club has struggled to keep going. But some of them want to keep having camp . We do have an old heavy "quad" we keep in the neighbor's boathouse - 4 people used to be enough to carry it out and launch - now we wouldn't dream of it with less than 6 -has it just gotten heavier?? ? anyway, with some injuries and the prospect of bailing it out from the predicted rains, we decided against putting it in the water today, even tho we had 2 neighbors to help. So some of us took a walk around the island - you can see all the foxglove are out - and M and her daughter R (R is a honorary member of the rowing club - M's 11 yo adopted chinese daughter has been coming here since she was 4- last year she learned to cox!) stopped to peer at this black slug. We are always looking out for a -in-danger-of-extinction-blue slug, but we only saw black ones today.

Don't worry - I enlarged the slug about 2000 times!
