Sgwarnog: In the Field

Big Butterfly Count

The Big Butterfly Count is running in the UK for the rest of the month, so expect to see a glut of butterfly blips between now and then.

After a couiple of dull days, the sun was out this morning so I spent my coffee break combing the long grasses, nettles and bramble of the moor. There was not much variety, but plenty of quantity, with Ringlets still the most populous followed by Large Skipper, Green-veined White, Small Skipper and just a few of these Small Tortoiseshell.

What have you been spotting?
