Party at the mule ranch

This is Paul. It was his surprise 50th birthday party this afternoon, sprung on him by his mate, Janice.

Paul and Janice keep mules in a field behind our house, along with lots of other animals; llamas, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks...

A marquee was erected in the field this morning and it's now full of food, drink and people!

Paul has been very ill this year. He's had cancer and two heart attacks, the most recent was only six weeks ago! He was telling me about his time in the army and how he's broken 64 bones in his body. He's had more lives than a cat ;-)

What with bring blown up in the Falklands and shot in Northern Ireland, he's certainly lived, and I can't quite believe he's made it to 50!
