Accidental gardening

I found a sweet potato with sprouts in my pantry last week. To amuse Little Man, I stuck it in a clay pot with soil, and we kept on watering it. To our great surprise, the plant is thriving. I have some vague memory of sweet potato plants being vines, so we placed it near the porch railing. It looks like it will take over the porch in a week or. two.
