The last moments of a Swallowtail Butterfly

I captured this at the allotment. This butterfly is native to the UK but very rare and hence the photo.

It is very damaged but aren't we all as we near the end of lives. It was clutching onto my friends fennel as it desperately tried to lay its eggs before making it's final life transition!
