Secondhand? You could say experienced.
You could say they've kicked around some.
You could say they know what's what
and what goes where.

You could say they're damaged goods.
(Haven't we all been damaged along the way?)
You could say they're well suited.
Ideally matched. Made for one another.

Once in a while, from out of nowhere,
when you don't expect it
and you're unprepared,
somebody will come and lift you higher
and your burdens will be shared.
