Twilight Zone

Back in Scotland, in body but less in spirit.

Arrived back at 5am after a horribly uncomfortable flight (can't sleep squeezed into those things, but discovering that the head rest sides on the seat bend inwards for support did help. Pity we were on the descent into Glasgow when I found that out though).

Delayed fifteen minutes disembarking as someone had taken ill and the paramedics had to come on and attend to her first. Not a very dignified experience for the poor woman being treated in front of around 350 grumpy passengers itching to get off the plane. The bus taking us back to pick up the car had a flat battery so we had another twenty minute wait for jump leads to be applied. I then had to find the nearest garage to get air for an almost flat tyre as there seems to be a slow puncture (or someone's been fiddling with my valve).

All in all it took us over three hours to get back from Glasgow instead of 50 minutes. I feel almost a sense national embarrassment for any tourists coming into Glasgow and having to go through any of that, especially if followed by the experience of the pot-hole ridden M8 and the crawl along the A80

It's good to be home?

Forty winks later (four hours worth) and after a bacon roll with broon sauce had us feeling human again I almost headed out to take a machete to the lawn here; it really needs it. Started to rain though, so sat and caught up with some of the phone hacking/select committee goings on instead. Pity it's all going to be overshadowed by the Phantom Flan Flinger and Wendi 'Tyson' Murdoch incident in the news, but that seemed to be the most interesting moment (next to James' stuttering and Rupert's tired and insincere sounding reading of his final 'humble' statement).

Talking of Murdoch, had a proper senior moment myself with that packet of Nik-Naks. I'd just opened them when I went out to take this photo then roamed the house trying to find them (even looked in the fridge - cheers bruv!). Ended up opening a second packet before spotting them all rain soaked next to where I'd been with the camera. So glad I'm not having to operate any heavy machinery any time soon.

(Been a little lax on comments recently, decided to enjoy my holiday first. Thanks to all who've been keeping up with the journal here, will catch up with you all soon)
