Friendship

is great but sometimes fades. If you look closely the paintwork, the words Sowjetische and Deutsch have been painted out - so this vessel, now the base for a sailing school in Nordeney, was once the symbol of Soviet-German friendship. More here.

Nordeney is an utter delight, and although I know there are stories told about Ostfrisien (who do they make jokes about, I wonder ?) a small medical problem was dealt with by people here with great courtesy, kindness and efficiency - and they even said very nice things about my limited spoken German.
