300 is just another number, nothing special. What is special is the media that held top honors in the audio storage world for 40 or so years, but was well into its decline 300 months ago. Young 'uns may never have heard the sweet and mellow sound (due to the inherent harmonic distortion in it and its fellow analog, tube amplifiers) the twelve inch 33-1/3 rpm microgroove long playing vinyl record produced.

Columbia released the first LP in 1948. THIS is the artist & piece but not the actual recording.

And THIS is from the first album released on compact disk in 1985, which ushered in the digital world and slowly pushed the LP into obsolescence.
