The Invasion

Went along to the Merchant City Festival today, which was great, LOTS of folk with cameras around, apparently there was some kind of photo competition going on, but sadly have no idea what was going on, saw one of the most creative tripod type thing ever - made from old bike handlebars, you know the very long, straight ones. I chatted to lovely people and saw some great street theatre and dance. Particular highlights, for anyone thinking of going along tomorrow, were The Invasion, Desert Island Discs, The Lifeguards, Cats Choir and Get, Set, GlasGOw, but I don't think that last is on tomorrow, it was great - sports themed dance by various community groups ranging in age from about 1 to about 60! Also like the sports stuff, they had coaches and athletes along from various disciples to show kids how to do things like judo, boxing, weightlifting and wrestling. The pic shows a tiny bit of the amusement that was The Invasion - pink aliens trying to get used to life on Earth. More info here. Took hundreds of shots, and am having technical difficulties downloading some of them, but even so it was hard to choose, but this conveyed the energy, the interactivity and had a cool shadow, so there we go! The girl in civvies was just plucked from the crowd, some were more enthusiastic than others!

Edit: Just noticed last year's shot - July 23rd must be a shadow day!
