The Friends Now Boarding...

So here we are in the Big Apple, after the world's most overdue bus ride.

In a nutshell:
The bus arriving 45 minutes late + a border crossing that involved more questions than an episode of who wants to be a millionaire + a woman at one of the buses stops claiming she'd booked a ticket, and making the driver call the police + ariiving in New York at 1:30am instead of 11:00pm + walking to a friends house in stifling humidity when a cab would have been better + getting unwanted directions from a drunken New Yorker who'd just broken up with his girlfriend + arguing with the missus as we aimlessly stomp the streets + listening to the missus exclaim 'they all have guns here you know' + both being desperate for a pee + whistling up at my friends 6th floor window and him miraculously hearing it in the two second gap of silence between video game levels,

= quite the eventful trip!

I went for one of my rare 'today I have no budget' days today, which involved drinking a lot of mostly cider in New York's bars.
We're staying with friends from my good old days back in Macclesfield, and I'd underestimated just how great it would be hanging out with some fellow northern monkeys for a change.

We hit a few bars and met a couple of their great friends to boot. Then we spent a good while in the bar shown above.
It's a game bar with giant chess or scrabble at the tables, plus table tennis, table football and shuffleboard on offer too.

Not only have I never played shuffleboard, I've never even heard of it. It involves sliding heavy weights to the other end of a long court - the closer to the edge without going over the better the points scored.
We split into boys vs girls and obviously the boys reigned supreme.

It's my new favourite game in the world and hopefully we can get another round in before our time in NYC is over.
