Distressed door

Seen at Roquessels (and found to be impossible to straighten) while buying wine on a grey morning when our house seemed quiet and empty after E's departure. One surprise on the way back through the vineyards was noticing that the red grapes are already ripening. I thought this was early but have just found my blip almost exactly two years ago when the grapes were quite ripe. The red grapes won't be picked until September, so they still have time to mature and develop flavour and sweetness. The harvest of the white grapes usually begins around the middle of August, often at night because white grapes need to be kept cool until they are pressed.

Edit: I've just realised that this image shows the effects of time - this week's 2011 Challenge
