Trentham Perseus & Medusa

Back blip from a visit on Saturday to Trentham Gardens Nr Stoke on Trent. This sculpture was first put here by the Duke of Sutherland back in 1840.

This is the only copy of Benvenuto Cellini's 1553 Perseus and Medusa from the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence, sculpted for Cosimo I, Duke of Tuscany.

The estate became uninhabitable in 1905 because of pollution in the lake, but in the last 10 years or so has been restored to its former glory.
