War and peace

I used to live right next door to the building which everyone around here knows as 'the bombed out church'.

St Luke's was completed in 1831 and suffered heavy bomb damage in the blitz of May 1941. The City of Liverpool bought the roofless shell of the building in 1968 and turned it and the surrounding garden into a 'place of rest and tranquility'. It often hosts art exhibitions and happenings including Yoko Ono's piece 'Skyladders for Liverpool' in the 2008 Biennial.

Walking past it this afternoon I was struck by the shadows thrown by these broken windows.
