On a roll...This time we are in Brazil

Well seeing as I seem to have a bit of a theme going around drinks - I figured we could keep on in the same vein with todays shot. This my friends, if you did not know, is a Caipirinha - Brazil's national cocktail.

Tonight I met up with a friend who was back up North for work and we wanted a relatively healthy dinner. This lead us strait to Tropeiro, a Brazilian BBQ restaurant.

It is based on the notion of continuous service known as rodizio. You help yourself to some wonderful salad and stews and then they bring round 14 different cuts and types of meat as they are ready, The meats are grilled over an open flame and have a truly wonderful flavour.

Of course if you are going to eat Brazilian style food then you have to have some of the national cocktail. Its slightly tart yet a little sweet and wonderfully refreshing. You can get them flavoured but you really cannot beat the naturally flavoured one.

In a drink related trivia fact the term Caipirinha apparently originates as a diminutive from the word caipira. Caipira is used to refer to someone from the countryside and would (allegedly) translate to hillbilly. I guess that makes Caipirinha the equivalent of moonshine, though far tastier
