Autumn already...?

In the last week I've noticed that some trees (Wild Cherry, Sycamore in the main) seem to be on the turn - the Wild Cherry in my area in particular turn a wonderful red colour before leaf drop.

This leaf is from a self seeded tree in my garden - several have gone this remarkable red colour.

The weather has been rather autumnal recently - cold wet & windy - so I'm hardly surprised the trees are confused. I saw some people wearing gloves last week!
