Nor'wester

After three days of nor'westers the snow has further retreated. I'm blipping this today as a record. A southerly change is predicted for tonight and it is possible the mountains will not be visible for a while.

The photo shows the classic Canterbury Nor'west arch, the pale cloud across the top with blue sky underneath. I don't know what the grey clouds are called, but they are a common feature with a nor'wester. I have learned that so long as they stay above the mountains they will not bring rain. Sometimes when the grey clouds are low and the arch is further east of here we can get spits of rain from a clear blue sky.

My daughter, FirehorseMia has come to visit for the weekend.
