So good to see you!

I was having brunch with the Queen of Plumstead in our favourite Cafe in Westerham (The Rendezvous Brasserie right in the middle of town on the brow of the hill) and taking nosy pictures of the street life out of the window. One of the waitresses was collecting empties when she glanced up and saw a favourite customer coming across the street. This was the look on her face: a spontaneous and joyful expression on a sunny day.

The QOP remarked how the sun brings out the best in people, a pertinent remark, but then she is an avid people watcher and an 89 year old student of life. She was scathing about the woman in a short skirt who didn't have the legs for it, tut-tutting about the very high heels of another, and less than impressed with the standard of dress of most of the men who walked by. But she was very happy. Eating breakfast and staring out of the window whilst in good company is a favourite pastime.

Go to the Rendezvous. The food is excellent, the coffee is fab and the staff are wonderfully warm and friendly. It helps if the sun is shining, but it isn't essential ...
