You know what!

Went on the barley path today - neglected recently for my new discoveries. Some of the barley has been harvested, as has the hay some with the old-fashioned small bales too. Saw lots -

Brown Hares, skylark youngsters, a whole covey of grey partridges (hurrah!) , lots of butterflies despite the overcast sky including a lovely gatekeeper I pursued in vain. This peacock got the vote though vain creature!
