One man and his dogs

Just to prove that not only Cornwall has great beaches and scenery....we took a trip down to the Witterings today. It was forecast a lovely summer's day, and sure enough despite the cloudy start, we were camped out at 9am on West Wittering beach to finish up B's week off. It was like not wanting the week to be over...just one extra day more locally on the beach.

Dylan as usual loved the sea. It is so good to have such a wonderful beach within an hour of home that allows dogs all year round. We cooked bacon in the morning for a bacon butty, took sandwiches for lunch on the beach, and finished up with a bbq on the grass in the massive car park.

Even though the car park was absolutely cram packed, the two beaches are massive so it never seems over crowded. There are a few spots where you feel like you're almost alone. There's always plenty of sail boats on the water with Chichester Harbour nearby and it always succeeds in bringing back childhood memories of summer days out. We were never wealthy enough for holidays abroad as kids, so our summer holidays consisted of such day trips away....which always started with one of asking within minutes..."are we nearly there yet?". Funny how as kids we all did this...never having any experience of others who asked the same thing. Like an inherent impulse.

Only downside, I didn't heed my own advice. Forgot to put sun cream on during the morning...regret that now!

I chose this shot out of the many I took of the flotilla in the estuary just because I liked the the serenity of the man and his two dogs, walking along the waterfront. Lighting was difficult shooting into the sun, but I feel it worked.

oh...and very much better large....as you can see the man and his dogs!
